About this guide

Editorial policy

How guides on this site are written, what they may and may not claim, how dates and revisions are shown, and how to report an error.

Purpose and scope

SurreyBraces.com explains what orthodontic treatment is like: before, during and after. It does not cover choosing a provider, comparing quotes or verifying credentials, which belong to SurreyOrthodontist.com, and it does not duplicate the national airway education published at AirwayOrthodontics.ca. Where a topic overlaps, this site takes the treatment-experience angle and links to the other.

Standards

  • Answer first. Substantive guides open with a short answer, then explain what happens, what it feels like and what to do, with a table, checklist, timeline or decision guide where useful.
  • Calibrated claims. Where evidence is strong, guides say so; where it is weak or mixed, they say that. No guide uses "best", "fastest", "painless", "perfect" or "guaranteed", and no appliance is described as faster than another without a cited trial.
  • References. Load-bearing clinical claims carry a reference to a primary or peer-reviewed source, listed at the end of the guide.
  • No fabrication. No patient stories, reviews, statistics or outcomes are invented. Photography uses labelled placeholders until real, consented images are produced; no stock image is presented as a doctor, staff member or patient.
  • Respect for general dentists. Both general dentists and orthodontists provide orthodontic care in BC; guides do not claim otherwise.
  • Canadian English. Guides use Canadian spelling and metric measures.

Dates and revisions

Ten articles on this site were first published in May 2021. Each keeps its original address and its original publication date, shown in the attribution block, together with a revision date and a note describing what changed. New guides show a first-published date. When a reviewer signs off, a review date is added. No page shows a review date before sign-off.

Corrections

Errors are corrected as soon as they are confirmed and the revision note is updated. To report one, use the route on the contact page and mark the message for the SurreyBraces.com editorial team.

Separation from promotion

Each substantive guide has one featured-provider block, after the content. There are no sticky banners, countdowns, discounts, pop-ups or repeated calls to action. The header carries the recommended clinic's phone number and a consultation link as a utility, and nothing else.
